History

Founded in 2009, Dance Republic Performing Arts set out to fill a gap in the arts scene of Vila do Conde: accredited dance teaching. With the opening of the Mindelo and Fornelo branches, we brought the possibility of artistic training to those furthest from urban centres, with certified, qualified and accredited teachers to teach and train dancers of every style.

In 2011, Dance Republic Performing Arts opened its Póvoa branch, which became its largest studio.

Today, Dance Republic Performing Arts has branches in Póvoa de Varzim, Vilar, Mindelo and Vila Chã, covering a wide range of movement disciplines, both Academic and Urban, most notably Dance Fusion, Urban Fusion, Classical Ballet, Acro and Floor Barre, under the technical and artistic direction of teachers Guga Bastos (Academic Dance) and Joana Correia (Urban Dance).
